About

Homeboyz RFC was established in late 2009 with a stint in the National Sevens circuit playing in three of the five tournaments of the circuit.

Homeboyz RFC played in the Nakuru prinsloo sevens, Driftwoods sevens in Mombasa and in the Kabeberi sevens where it won the first trophy in the shield category. This encouraged the sponsors Homeboyz Group of companies to extend their sponsorship to establish a fully-fledged rugby unit. These was prompted by the need of Homeboyz Group of Companies to tapping the rich rugby talent in the country as well as take care of the underprivileged players with lots of potential but lack proper exposure to grow their talents.

Homeboyz RFC officially held their trials for the team on Sunday the 31st January 2010 under the supervision of the coaches Eric Situma and Paul Murunga and the chairman Mike Rabar.A team of 25 players was selected which has now grown to over 70 players. The team went ahead and competed in the Eric Shirley Shield trophy and won on their debut season in the 2010 season.

It is the dream of the sponsors to ensure that the players live a better lifestyle as they improve in their game and also to be able to help their families back at home. The team suffered some minor setback in not being allowed to play in the Main Kenya Cup league due to some technicalities. However this dint last long as the team went ahead and won the Eric Shirley Shield trophy in 2011 to secure a chance to play in the Kenya cup league. The same year also saw Homeboyz win the knock out Mwamba Cup

This vision has been fruitful and can always get better with Homeboyz Rugby team being one close unit with dreams of playing better and professional rugby and the way things are moving we should be able to get there.

The team went ahead to win the 2011 Eric Shirley Shield that earned them a promotion to the first division competition,

The Kenya Cup

Homeboyz Rugby did fairly well at the kenya cup judging by the fact it was our debut season that included beating  the defending champions Kenya  Harlequins HB Rugby finished 7th out of a possible 10 team Kenya cup competition and being our debut season, it was impressive.

On our second season 2012 – 2013, we finished 6th overall making it to the quarter finals and above all circuits of the local sevens circuit
